General
Against the background of increasing concern over worldwide crisis – Ecological, Economic, Social, Cultural and Humanitarian – more and more people are questioning the way we live and embracing the positive vision of sustainability. Instead of fighting the ills of modern society, a new way of healthy, peaceful living is evolving; in harmony with ourselves and our environment; a new wealth and well-being to replace the destructive and soul-destroying global economic system.
This is no Utopian dream. All over the worlds groups and individuals are experimenting and building new models for human life. Creating new technologies and drawing on the wisdom of the past, learning from mistakes... a quietly growing revolution is under way.
This is what EDE is about.
Ecovillage Design Education (EDE)
The EDE curriculum, developed by GAIA University and GEN, the Global Ecovillage Network, consists of 4 one-week modules bringing together the varied aspects of Ecovillage design and living.
The course draws on resources developed over the last decades in sustainable projects and is in itself an example of new ways of learning and teaching. Every EDE is a unique blend created from the curriculum, the trainers team, the participants and environment in which it takes place.
Each of the 4 weeks is devoted to a theme: Ecology, Social, Economic and World-view. The curriculum is designed to give access to a wide range of information: scientific and technical, as well as your inner and intuitive resources. A “Tool Kit” of sustainable techniques, skills and practices is presented and experimented with; at the same time there is plenty of space for reflection and visioning.
The willingness to look deeply at oneself and ones attitudes and beliefs can make EDE a deeply transformative experience.
